Wondering about your email address in comments?
Your name and email are required for comments. Your name is displayed on the comment.
Your email address is not displayed anywhere on the website. It is kept private and hidden. No email is sent to you.
What’s it for, then? GdN’s current settings will require that your FIRST comment is moderated, but if you want to comment again, your comment will be approved without moderation if you use the same name and email address.
Should comment spammers ever figure this out and become a bother I will change this policy and either moderate all comments or activate a ‘captcha’ which is easy to do with this software. Captchas require the commenter to verify they’re human by reading characters from an image.
