Christmas in Boston
I went down to Boston on the 18th of December, 2003 to visit with my sister for Christmas. The drive down was not so fun, mostly because I was trying to get there in time to catch "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" and the weather was pretty bad. I made it in time for the movie, though, and it totally kicked ass.
My sister and bro-in-law (2B) were working the next day, so I stayed at their place and read, goofed around, and discovered that they had their heater set to not heat during the day when they're at work. Later that evening we went to Logan Int'l Airport to greet my mom and so we got to drive around on (in) Boston's new I-93 project, the Big Dig. Later in the visit we drove on the southbound part of it as well, which was very recently opened.
For the next couple of days, we did Christmassy stuff like decorating and card-writing, etc. I brought down some cushions and fabric to re-cover them, just in case there was some down-time. The visit was so successful that I didn't really have time to start on them, though I did take the time to drive out to Freddy Farkel's Frikkin' Fantabulous Fabric Femporium (OK, that's not the real name) where I got some zippers and a free yaadstick. We also went to see "Elf". Good Christmas movie.
John's parents showed up on the 21st? or around there anyways. After that it got a little busy, and pretty fun, although for the rest of the trip I ended up on in inflatable air mattress in the dining room. Actually, the air mattress was better than the futon which had a lump in it from the cover bunching it up (they got a new cover for Christmas) so it was a good trip. I might have to get one of those mattresses if my camping plans for the summer pan out.
Christmas itself was excellent, with turkey dinner that night (and surprisingly that was the only night of turkey that trip) and lots of homemade eggnog all around. I left for home on the 27th.
